She was known to friends and family as "Aunt Nanny."
She was born April 7, 1945, in Clay County, as the daughter of Claude William and Opal Modesitt Selby.
After attending Brazil schools where she had been a majorette, she graduated from the House of James Beauty Academy in Crawfordsville where she also received her instructorship and where she had worked as an instructor.
She had also worked at CBS and PR Mallories. She later owned and operated Modesell's Beauty Salon in Brazil. She completed her LPN training at Ivy Tech.
She attended the Church of Christ in Brazil.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Opal.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Lee Selby and Robert Lynn Neville Selby and wife Angela, all of Plainfield, grandchildren, Cory Cox and Lexxie Neville Selby, three sisters, Norma Joan Wylie and husband James, Marilyn Hinkle and Deloris "Corky" Strain and husband Larry, all of Brazil, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Thursday, with Davy Lucas officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
