The North Clay wrestling team got off to a slow start via a couple of forfeits in the lower weight classes against visiting Owen Valley, but rallied strong for a 90-36 victory.
The Knights fell behind 18-6 after forfeits at 70, 85 and 100 pounds but rallied strong by winning five straight matches by fall.
Christian Crews started the rally at 105 pounds win he parlayed a 4-1 lead midway through the opening period into a victory by fall over Nathan Shouse of the Patriots in 1:03.
Austin Bell fell behind 2-0 early in the first period, but scored a reverse against Dillion Knapp to knot the score. Moments later he was able to wrap Knapp into a cradle and put his opponent's shoulders to the mat for a pin in 1:15.
The victory evened the team score at 24-apiece and the Knights were on a roll.
Patrick Durcholz had one of the best matches of the evening, taking a 5-2 lead into the second period.
In period number two, Durcholz got a take down for a 7-2 lead before Hass rallied to tie the score briefly with a takedown of his own and three back points. Durcholz grabbed a 9-7 lead heading to the final period before he was able to put Hass on his back at the 3:44 mark.
Owen Valley's Brendan Truax narrowed the team gap to 42-30 with a win at 130 pounds, but North Clay got forfeit wins at 135, 140 and 145 from Damien Solomon, Larry Shaeffer and Dylan Lofton.
The wins effectively put the match out of reach for Owen Valley, but North Clay finished strong the remainder of the way.
Baylor Girton came out aggressive from the opening whistle and dropped Dakota Nielson in 1:45 and Brady Girton followed suit at 165 in the next match with a fall in just 24 seconds.
North Clay finished out with a pin by Ethan Stewart at 220 pounds and both Chance Talbot and Zach Williams won by forfeit.
In the lower weight classes, Shane Ryan was a win by fall in 37 seconds at 75 pounds and Garrett Modesitt won at 95 pounds with a fall in 1:36 over Ben Myers.
In the lone JV match, Zach Mishler won an exciting 12-11 match at 120 pounds for North Clay.
The team win improved the Knights dual match record to 5-1 overall after earlier wins over Edgewood (58-46), Cascade (63-45), Greencastle (70-12) and Martinsville West (63-48). The Knights lone loss was to Tri-North, which feeds into Bloomington North High School.
North Clay travels to Southmont to compete in a tourney on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
