ROCKVILLE -- The juggernaut that is the Rockville Rox basketball team concluded the regular season with a 99-55 defeat of the visiting Clay City Eels in a game postponed from Friday due to weather.

Junior forward R.J. Mahurin continued his scoring onslaught, pouring in 34 points in the first-half. The 6'7 Indiana State recruit finished the game with his second 43-point game of the week and sat for much of the fourth quarter.

Clay City hung tough in the first quarter, playing solid defense on Mahurin. The Rox still got out quickly with a 15-5 lead after three 3-pointers from Mahurin.

The Eels bounced back to get within five points at 21-16 after Jordan Defore knockd down a late 3-pointer.

But the second quarter was a much different story.

The Rox exploded for 36 points in the second quarter while holding the visiting Eels to just nine and putting the game out of reach.

Mahurin hit 11-of-17 shots from the field and six-of-10 from 3-point range during the first half explosion. Rockville led 60-25 at halftime thanks in large part of a 19-point second quarter by Mahurin.

In the second half the Eels played Rockville much closer by employing a box-and-one defense on Mahurin.

Rockville hit 12-of-22 shots from 3-point range and outrebounded the Eels 38-28 topped by Aaron Bridge's 11.

Clay City stayed within 39-30 in second half scoring, but the first half deficit was too much.

Both Defore and Will Kennedy had 12 points apiece with Kyler Rhodes contributing 10 and Orry Heffner had eight.

In the JV game, Rockville got 23 points from sophomore Drew Kelley to win 48-38. Tyler Bridgewater had 22 for the Eels and Tyler Jenkins added 10.

Clay City (10-11) travels to the White River Valley Sectional on Tuesday night to face Shakamak at 6 p.m. Rockville (19-3) takes on the host Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at North Verrmillion.
