Curves Food Drive to benefit community

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

Curves of Brazil will be participating in the Curves Food Drive to benefit local food banks.

Last year, the Curves Food Drive collected close to five million kilograms of food for local communities throughout the world. This year, Curves has set a goal to collect close to seven million kilograms.

Curves is offering a $30 discount service fee for any new member who brings in a bag of non-perishable groceries and commits to a 12-month check draft membership between March 3-15.

Those wishing to donate may drop off non-perishable food items at Curves Monday through Friday during business hours through March.

This year's drive includes a twist. A weekly theme will be available for people and will help them pick healthy foods to donate.

The schedule includes:

* Week one -- Empty your pantry with healthy staples,

* Week two -- Foods from around the world,

* Week three -- Soups on, and

* Week four -- Family friendly items, including healthy snacks for kids and baby necessities.

"The Curves Food Drive promotion is always exciting," Curves of Brazil owner Deb Raderstorf said. "We have a chance to help so many people at a time when the food banks are lowest. It's a win-win situation for everyone, and we're very proud to participate."

For more information, call Raderstorf at 443-6616 or e-mail curves411@verizon.net.
