Born March 7, 1917, in Perry County, Ind., she was the daughter of Joseph L. Shephard and Anna Marie Quick Shephard.
She enjoyed working as a home health aide for several years. She was a resident of both Jackson Gardens and Meridian Towers.
Anna loved her dogs and her special bird "friends."
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Goldie Shephard and Ethel Tate, son Theodore Gilbert, son-in-law Leonard Lucas, granddaughter Kaitlyn Rose Wetnight, nephew Donald Howell, and three husbands, George L. Banks, Alson "Al" Elder and William "Brownie" Brown.
Survivors include her two daughters, MaryAnn Lucas, Brazil, and Nettie Gilbert, Indianapolis, one son, Guy Gilbert and fiancÚ Tammy Henderickson, Brazil, five grandchildren, George Lucas, Joseph Lucas and wife Jodi, Melodye Young and husband Carl, Gloria Wetnight and husband Tom, and Vicki Ladd, three great-grandchildren, Zachariah Lucas, Noah Lucas and Andrea Ladd, three step-daughters, Edith Knight, Kateryn Brakensiek and Ruth Walker, special niece and nephew Alta Howell and D.J. Howell, and other extended family.
Services will take place at 1 p.m., Wednesday, at French Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim McMahon officiating. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
