Charles Robert Birkemeier, 71, Greencastle, passed away Wednesday morning at his residence.

Born Nov. 25, 1936, in Vevay, Switzerland County, Ind., he was the son of Charles William and Jeanette (Monroe) Birkemeier.

He was a 1955 graduate of Reelsville High School and had attended classes at Purdue University.

He married Patricia Martin on June 27, 1981. She survives.

Birkemeier had been a computer analyst with Cinergy, retiring in 1990. He had dealt in antiques and repaired clocks for several years.

He was a member of the Reelsville Volunteer Fire Department, the Emmaus Christian Church and had coached at the Reelsville Youth Little League for several years.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, Gary R. Birkemeier and wife Anne, Reelsville, and Tristan C. Birkemeier, Greencastle, daughter, Terri Beasley and husband Jeff, Reelsville, step-daughter Tracie Ann Curtis, Greencastle, sister Juanita Irwin and husband Robert, Greencastle, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Evelyn Roach.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m., Friday, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with the Rev. Steve Newman officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday.
