Officer safety training

Thursday, March 6, 2008

In an effort to ensure the safety of Clay County's smallest residents, members of the Brazil City Police Department began the first of four standardized child passenger safety-training sessions in the Council Chamber room at Brazil City Hall Wednesday afternoon. Safety Technician Marnita Louzon will combine classroom instruction and hands-on training for the officers during three more 8-hour sessions. Police Chief Terry Harrison said officers who complete the course will be able to provide the community with a future car seat safety checkup program at the department. The program is made possible through funding provided by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, National Standardized Child Passenger Safety Training Program and State Farm Insurance. The Brazil City Police Department will also be holding a Car Seat Clinic, Wednesday, March 12, from 1-3 p.m., at York Chevrolet, 2456 W. US 40, Brazil.
