Forrest Buell will turn 80 years old this July, but his interest in and dedication to education has not aged.
Buell is running for the District 4 seat on the Clay Community Schools Board of Trustees.
Buell, who has lived his entire life in Clay County except for a tour of duty with the Air Force and getting his degree at Indiana University, served several terms on the school board beginning in 1978.
His enthusiasm for education began with his parents. Both parents were educators, and all but one of his six siblings attended college.
"I can't quite accept a student not having access to an education. Education needs to be extended to every student to the fullest extent. I can't accept anything less," Buell said about his attempt to rejoin the board.
Buell has been attending school board meetings regularly since the mid-1970's.
