Wayne Phipps, 90, Greencastle, passed away Wednesday morning at his residence.
Born Oct. 12, 1917, in Clinton, he was the son of Roy and Mary (Ruby) Phipps.
On Sept. 29, 1944, he married Betty L. Chilcote and she preceded him in death on July 12, 2003.
He was a long time dairy farmer and bus driver in Clinton Township. His memberships included Indiana Registered Ayshire Dairy Cattle Association and the Union Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughter Linda Truax and husband Steve, Greencastle, sister Letha Shoaf and husband Walter, Rockville, brothers Ish Phipps and wife Mary, Carbon, and Ivan Phipps, Indianapolis, brother-in-law Harold Chilcote, Greencastle, daughter-in-law Wilma Phipps, Greencastle, grandson Brian Truax, two granddaughters, Kerry Wright and Alison Firth, and two great-grandsons, Austin and Tyler Wright, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Larry Phipps, grandson Alex Truax, sisters Gladys Hartman, Ester Hartman and Lucy Swaim, and brothers James, Lawrence, Homer, Harmon and Everett Phipps.
Services will take place at 10 a.m., today, at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Robert DeAth officiating. Burial will be in the Brick Chapel Cemetery.
