Guest speaker, Mr. Don Hansell, will present a genealogical, educational program at the Vigo County Public Library, Monday at 6:30 p.m., in the Vigo County Public Library's lower level.
The program, "Emigration, Migration, and Immigration," is an informative and educational program about genealogy.
Hansell taught in public schools for 17 years and 25 years at Indiana State University. He has a background in social sciences. His interest in genealogy began with his mother. He typed and edited her work on her final history and genealogy. The more she worked on her family tree, the more interested he became and eventually published a book containing information of his discoveries.
Hansell teaches a beginners class in genealogy, and during the month of February, the class was fully booked. The next beginner's class will take place in August and attendees must be registered.
The program is open to the public. Those attending should arrive early to view the displays. Refreshments will be available, along with door prizes and free handouts.
The computer lab, at the VCPL, will be open today for a workshop on "Family Tree Maker," from 10 a.m.-noon. The Legacy Users Group Workshop will meet Wednesday, March 26, from 2-4 p.m., and there will be a Genealogy Computer Workshop on Saturday, March 29, from 10 a.m.-noon.
