TRI COUNTY HOME EC. CLUB
The Tri-County Home Ec. Club met Feb. 19, 2008, at the home of Jean Rowings. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Ruth Timm and the club creed led by Claralou Thompson.
A prayer blessing the food was gave by Julie Pell. After a delicious meal prepared by hostesses Jean, Ruth Timm, and Marie Adamson the meeting continued.
Claralou presided with the absence of Jean Alsip and Laura Kennedy. "A Young Boy's View" and "The Flour Sack" was gave for devotions.
Song of the month was led by Ruth Timm. Roll call was answered by everyone telling who had gave them their last hug. Linda Allen gave a health report on preserving brain power and the importance of calcium for our bones. Jean Stratton Porter was the citizenship report by Jeanne Steuerwald.
During the business session, the nominating committee announced the new officers for next year and the club also voted on a donation to the Well Child Clinic of $25.
Our two workers at the Bake Sale this month were Linda Allen and Jeanne Steuerwald. A thank you note was read from Donna Black for the F.N.P. donations. The articles collected for the Leap Center plus $25 in donations were taken there last month.
Our club received an invitation to be entertained by the Van Buren Club in March. A discussion was held concerning a memorial in honor of Leta Mace to be given by the Mace family for our Extension organization. With some members absent, it was tabled till next month.
Plans were discussed for entertaining H.O.M.E. Club in April. Judy Allen Claralou volunteered to help on Ag Day next month at the fairgrounds. The lesson "Meth Hits Home" with the video and discussion was very informative by Linda Allen.
The meeting was adjourned with the singing of the Club Prayer. Next month's meeting will include a purse auction (with contests inside wrapped) and will be at the home of Ruth Timm on March 18.
The Alpha Delta Chapter of Tri Kappa will be hosting their annual bingo fund-raiser on Thursday, March 13 in Spencer.
The event will be at the Owen Valley Middle School and will feature specialty kitchen products by The Pampered Chef and baskets by Longenberger. Tickets are $10 each and must be purchased in advance. They may be purchased at Hammond's Florist or by calling (812)829-2329. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. with bingo beginning at 6:30 p.m. State law prohibits anyone under 18 to be in attendance during the event.
This will be a sold out event so purchase your tickets early. Tri Kappa is a non-for-profit philanthropic organization supporting culture, charity and education.
