Withers running for commissioner

Wanting to make a difference and a love for people are reasons Jack R. Withers decided to run for County Commissioner.

Jack R. Withers, Sr., 71, is running for County Commissioner in District one. He is a Democrat.

Withers said he has worked with the people in the commissioner's office for a year and eight months. He feels he knows the job and thinks he can help.

"I like to think I can make a difference," he said. "I like people and like to deal with people. I will be available to people anytime."

Withers said a big issue, right now, are roads. He has received many calls from community residents who are concerned about the road condition. Clay County has 700 miles of roads that need repair. Withers said with as many roads as Clay County has, he wants to help people with the situation. He said it is important to remember to slow down.

Withers said people are important to him and he wants them to know they can count on him. He said he is ready to help.

Withers is running on the Democratic ticket against Republican Walter E. Young.
