The Clay County Health Center conducted a reception for its Employees of the Month Friday in the main dining room of the facility.
The Director of Operations, Keith McKee, presented each employee with a long stem carnation. One of its employees of the month was chosen as the organization's Shining Star for the year. Myrna McMurray was presented a $500 check from McKee along with a long stem pink rose.
McMurray will be in competition for the Corporate Shining Star award and a $2,000 prize, which will be chosen later in March in Lexington, Ky. She has worked at Clay County for more than 23 years.

The organization's monthly employee winners were McMurray (laundry), Shirley Walters (dietary cook), Christina Vandivier (LPN -- Nursing), Megan Palm (activities), Penny McCreery (housekeeping), Gina Acierto (CNA -- Nursing), Bud Ellis (CNS -- Nursing), Judy Mattox (dietary cook), Christy Kennett (social service and activity director), Dianna Edmonson (dietary manager), Melissa Hunter (LPN -- Nursing) and Rose Pell (dietary).
Each employee received a $50 check. The winners are chosen monthly by department heads.
Punch and cake was served to all in attendance.
