Spring is in the air and warmer weather is around the corner! Now is the time to get your computer skills updated!
Business Professionals of America students at Northview High School are once again offering adult education computer classes. Students teach the classes with other students assisting.
The proceeds from the class are used to help pay the expenses of state and national conferences of the BPA members. This year, we are hoping to take as many students as possible to our national event to see Ahyna Alstott lead the conference as our national vice president.
In the past, the instruction has been one-on-one with students helping adults.
Classes will be conducted from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, April 1, 3, and 8, and 10.
The Basics class will teach how to use the computer. Mouse clicks, making folders, and saving your work will be covered. If you are unsure how to operate a computer, this is the first class for you.
Windows/Internet class will teach making shortcuts to your screen, changing screen savers, searching the internet, and several useful sites for information. Using e-mail and setting up your address book will be covered.
In the Word classes, we will teach how to use word processing software beginning with cut, paste, fonts, margins, and graphics. The second level Word class will include pulling graphics from the web into your document, tables, and borders. In the third Word class, mail merge and voice recognition will be taught.
Spreadsheets will be taught in Excel. The first level will be basic typing in a spreadsheet arranging columns, and simple formulas. Level 2 Excel will add formatting, graphics, and advanced formulas.
In the PowerPoint classes, we will teach how to scan pictures as well as use pictures from digital cameras to make a computer slide show, moving through your pictures as slides.
A new class this year is Using Your Laptop. Bring your laptop to class and we will help you set up shortcuts, arrange your shortcuts, remove unneeded icons, etc.
Classes are $20 each or $50 for all four nights. Make checks payable to Northview High School and include the coupon circling the class you would like each evening. You can only sign up for one class per evening. Coupons are included in The Brazil Times that list which classes are taught each evening.
