But Neil is ready to take a more active role in the community by running for the District 2 seat on the Clay Community School Board of Trustees.
Neil, who has lived in Clay County for more than 20 years, received a degree in education from the University of Tulsa, and has spent close to 20 years in different roles in classrooms.
She is active in Clay County 4-H, and volunteers with the Humane Society and the North Clay Middle School Cadet Corp.
"I have two children in Clay Community Schools, and I need to be active in what happens in their lives," Neil said.
When asked why she decided to run, Neil said, "I need to stand up and be active instead of a sideline voice."
