Charles A. "Chip" Hoskins running for Council At-Large
Like many Clay County residents, Charles A. "Chip" Hoskins has always been interested in politics.
He just didn't have time to express his opinions on the political platform.
Hoskins -- a Democrat -- recently announced his candidacy for Clay County Council. He is seeking one of three at-large positions that are up for grabs.
Hoskins, who is married to Donna Hoskins, has three children. He told The Brazil Times since he has now raised his three children, he decided to throw his hat into the ring.
"Now I have time to do it," he said. "But I've always been interested in the county and how it runs."
This is the first time Hoskins has run for public office. The 54-year-old is a lifelong resident of Clay County and works at Great Dane.
He said he had considered running during the last election.
"I thought about it at the last election," he said. "I'm just freed up this time around."
Hoskins said he is particularly interested in Clay County's budget.
"(The County Council) decides what goes and what doesn't go (for the county)," he said. "If I can get in, I'll see what I can do to help improve the county."
