Mary C. Brown knows the importance of voting.

As County Clerk, Secretary of State Todd Rokita has praised Brown for her work in organizing elections in the county.

Brown, a Republican, is running in the 2008 election to keep her seat as the Sugar Ridge Precinct Committeeman.

A committeeman encourages their precinct to get involved in local politics.

"It's important to get people out there to vote, and (committeeman) are active when there's a caucus," Brown said.

Brown was elected to the position in 2006, but elections for committeeman positions have been moved to coincide with the Presidential election.

A resident of Sugar Ridge for more than a decade, Brown loves the "little, close knit farm community."

She is a member of Delta Theta Tau sorority and attends Annunciation Church, where she serves on the Parish Council. Brown also participates in the Republican Club.
