A life-long Clay County resident, Rick E. Neier is throwing his hat into the political arena for the first time in hopes of making a difference for his fellow citizens.

"Since before deciding to do this, I've been attending meetings to learn about our county and how local government works. You can learn a lot about what is going on at those meetings," Neier said. "There's a lot going on in this county and I want to be a part of it, help make things better for everyone."

Neier, 50, is on the ballet as a Republican candidate for one of the County Council as-large positions. A Red Devil graduating from Brazil High School, Neier has worked 32 years at Great Dane Trailers. The father of two daughters, Neier attends Peniel United Methodist Church.

Neier said he is getting out among the constituents to learn more about what is needed in Clay County.

"I've also been listening to the concerns of the people in the community," Neier said. "Roads are a big issue for many people. I've lived here all my life and I want to help make this community better."
