The junior high wrestling season wrapped up on Thursday evening for the North Clay Knights and they made sure to finish in style.

North Clay enjoyed forfeit wins over the final five weight classes and won nine of the final 10 bouts of an 84-42 decision.

After falling behind 30-0 after four forfeits of their own, the Knights began their comeback with a pin from Garrett Modesitt, who dropped his opponent in just 50 seconds over Zach Davidson.

Christian Crews began the real momentum swing at 105 pounds when he exploded after the opening whistle against Tryton Osbourn. Crews' controlled the match from the outset and pinned Osbourn in just 26 seconds to get North Clay within 36-12.

Austin Bell continued the swing at 110 pounds, taking Corey Noblitt down off the opening whistle and continued a catch-and-release tactic. Bell took his Golden Arrow opponent down five times in short order while grabbing a 10-4 lead before winning by fall in 1:33.

Sammy Swayze (top) works her opponent's shoulders to the mat during Thursday's match against Sullivan. Swayze pinned Nick Byrd in just 36 seconds as North Clay won 84-42.
North Clay's momentum may have hit its peak over the 115 and 120 pound classes as Sammy Swayze grabbed control of her match 20 seconds in against Nick Byrd.

Swayze was able to crank down a headlock on Byrd and wrapped him up for a 36 second pin as North Clay crept within 36-24.

Collin Richards' turn came up next for the Knights and he didn't disappoint, dropping Jake Smolinski by fall in 1:03.

At 125 pounds, Riley Witvoet of Sullivan was able to put Zach Mitchell on his back early to claim a 7-2 lead through one period, but Mitchell continued to scrap.

Mitchell scored a takedown to get within 7-5 before a late second period reversal gained Witvoet a 10-5 lead heading to the final period.

Witvoet looked to be cruising to a comfortable win down the stretch before Mitchell broke free and turned the tables for two points before time ran in a 10-7 defeat.

North Clay took its first lead with forfeit wins by Ethan Cornwell and Damien Solomon, but Jed Cox was able to secure a hard fought 8-7 win against Larry Shaffer who also came up just short in the final seconds.

Shaffer fell behind 8-5 after trading take downs in the third period with Cox. Shaffer grabbed two points for a reversal with just 17.2 seconds left, but couldn't gain the tying points in an 8-7 loss.

Both Baylor Girton and Dylan Lofton grabbed wins via fall to secure the final match points for North Clay.

Lofton's pin at 155 pounds came in just 16 seconds over Dakota Zimmerman.

Brody Girton, Aaron See, Jesse Miller, Chance Talbot and Zach Williams all won via forfeit to provide the final margin.

Congratulations on a great year to Coach Sanabria and all the wrestlers! The hard work and excitement of these kids is a reflection of the dedication of a great coach! Hopefully Tony will return next year and continue to turn this program around!
