Two years ago, Barnard made his first run for an at-large position on the Clay Community School Board.
"I missed it by a couple hundred votes, which I didn't think was too bad," Barnard said.
Recently, Barnard told The Brazil Times he received encouragement from teachers in the corporation to run again.
So he threw his hat into the ring once more.
Barnard, 26, is running for the board's District 4 position.
He said he decided to run again in February.
"I was inspired by my first go-round," Barnard said. "I feel like we need some changes on the school board and get some new ideas, some younger people."
Barnard said he ran two years ago because he was concerned about the ongoing teacher contract situation.
However, now that has been handled, he has focused his attention on the corporation's renovation project.
"At first, I was mixed," the Brazil resident said. "But I'm all for it now. I think it's a project that is long overdue."
Barnard said his run two years ago can only help him this time.
"I'm more comfortable with it," he said. "I have my stands and I listen to what people are saying."
