Harold Raymond "Ray" Erickson, 81, New Whiteland, Ind., passed away March 14, 2008, in Indianapolis.
He was born Dec. 2, 1926, to Gustave and Ada (Anderson) Erickson, in Racine, Wis.
He married Marjorie May Johnson on April 29, 1949. He was a member of the Church of Latter-Day-Saints where he served in numerous capacities, including as a church service missionary with his wife. He enlisted in the navy at age 17 and was a veteran of World War II.
He graduated from Indiana State with B.S. and M.S. degrees. He retired from Central Nine Technical School where he taught Drafting. After retiring from there, he has employed by Mejier at Southport as a greeter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother.
He is survived by his loving wife Marjorie, daughters Sharon Erickson, New Whiteland, Diane and husband Joe Dierdorf, Brazil, Jane and husband Brett Lewis, Martinsville, Patti and husband Bobby Smither, Whiteland, Ind., 10 grandchildren, Darby and husband Dilley, Natalee Lewis, Corey and wife Kris Lewis, Lindset and husband Rhett Gardner, Allison Lewis, Kelsey Lewis, Megan Smither, Paige and husband Chad Woods, Nick Smithe and Joey Dierdorf, seven great-grandchildren, sisters Shirley Hilgers, Racine, Wis., Beverly and husband Alan Ainsworth, Morongo Valley, Calif., Joy and husband Milton Lee, Delavan, Wis., and Violet Coleman, Madison, Wis.
Services will be Wednesday, March 19, at 11 a.m., in the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-Day-Saints, Franklin, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, from 4-8 p.m., in the Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland, Ind.
