Kenneth "Kenny" N. Targett, 55, Greencastle, died unexpectedly March 14, 2008, at his residence of an apparent heart attack.
He was born March 25, 1952, in Clay County, the son of William "Bill" Targett and Ruby Ferris Targett. He attended school at Van Buren. As a young man he worked at the Star Mine and then worked at several local saw mills. He had been a logger for more than 20 years and operated his own logging business.
Kenny married Virginia Eaglin Targett on Aug. 13, 1972, she survives.
He was a member of the Brazil Eagles Lodge. Kenny enjoyed hunting squirrels, rabbits and morel mushrooms. He just loved being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his father and a grandson, Frankie Joe Wallace.
Survivors include his mother, Ruby Targett Walton, Terre Haute, his wife Ginny Targett, Greencastle, the four step-children he raised as his own, David Wallace, Reelsville, Joe Wallace and wife Anita, Poland, Debra Murray and husband Ron, Sacramento, Calif., and Leisa Delano and husband Robert, Terre Haute, one sister Diana Wheeler, Brazil, three brothers, Leon Targett and wife Rose, Carbon, Dean Targett and wife Evelyn and Wayne Targett, all of Brazil, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., at French Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m., and again Wednesday prior to services. Post a heart of condolence at www.frenchfuneralhome.com.
