Bringing jobs to the community and working to improve the county are why Commissioner Charles S. Brown is running for County Commissioner District 2.

Brown, 60, has been a resident of Clay County all his life. He is a Democrat and is the present commissioner president. He said he is a family man and very interested in the community. He said roads and bridges are a main concern with people and the commissioners are trying to fix the problems.

"I am wanting to see things happen," he said. " We are working to improve roads, bridges, building projects and trying to bring jobs to the community."

Brown believes Clay County has some of the best schools in the state, but lack of good paying jobs keep young people from staying here. He said he has five grandchildren and feels getting involved with the youth and providing decent paying jobs is important.

Brown is also a volunteer for many groups, such as school youth programs and the Humane Society. He works with the Clay County Corrections and assists with the road crew. He is also on the Board of Directors for Senior Citizens, works with the Rotary and he participated in "Christmas in the Park."

Brown wants to encourage people to get involved with the community. He feels it is important to help the seniors and youth.

"They are the past and future," he said.

Brown is running on the Democratic ticket against Robert A. Thomas.
