County concerns and a time for change are reasons Robert A. Thomas decided to run for County Commissioner, District 2.

Thomas, 69, is retired and has been a resident of Clay County since June 1945.

The Democrat said there are three main issues he wants to address if elected, including improving the roads, ambulance service and county zoning.

He said the roads are in need of repair and the ambulance service needs to be addressed.

He said someone has to work for the people and their concerns.

"It is time for a change," he said.

Thomas said he is very outgoing and has no problems dealing with people.

He said he wants to help and can discuss any issue a resident has. He said he appreciates people, his supporters, voters and the community.

Thomas feels community involvement is important.

He gets involved with sports, such as football and basketball. He has participated in local fish frys.

Thomas is a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 1127. He served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam and Korea. He is a member of the National Riflemen's Association and the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church of Terre Haute, where he is a trustee.
