Muncie South's Baumgartner to coach Indiana All-Stars

INDIANAPOLIS -- Rick Baumgartner of Muncie South has been chosen to coach 2008 Indiana high school Boys All-Stars, game director Pete Smith said Friday.

Baumgartner has a 172-82 record over 11 seasons in three stints with the Rebels -- including the 2001 Class 3A state title -- and a 372-250 mark in 28 years of coaching overall.

He will be assisted by John Boyd of Gary West and Kevin Oxley of Tecumseh.

Boyd, who is 131-63 in eight seasons at Gary West, guided the Cougars to the 2002 Class 4A title. Oxley, who is 225-155 in 16 seasons at Tecumseh, directed the Braves to the 1999 Class A crown.

The games against Kentucky, sponsored in Indiana by The Indianapolis Star, are set for June 13 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and June 15 in Louisville.
