The junior horse bowl team of Logan White, Cathryn Bridges, McKenna Jones and Deaven McCrocklin were awarded first place for their quick thinking and sharp knowledge of equines. The county team will compete at the state level in Lafayette on March 29.

Team coach Debbie Metz expects the team to do very well.

"It's not about the medals we win," Metz said.

"These kids are horse lovers. They will probably own and care for horses most of their lives. The knowledge and experience gained now will last long after the medals are forgotten."
