BLOOMINGTON -- The high school indoor track season came to a conclusion for state athletes with the Hoosier State Relays on Saturday afternoon.
The meet, which is the equivalent of the indoor state competition, showcased many of Indiana's top track and field athletes.
The Northview Knights qualified two athletes for the meet as thrower Samantha Solomon and high jumper Shandi Travis each competed.
Travis qualified for the event that took place at Indiana University by clearing 5-0 at the Greencastle Indoor meet held at DePauw University on March 8.
Solomon meanwhile had a throw of 35-0 ¼" at Bloomington's Marshall Goss Relays the following week.
At the Hoosier State Relays, Solomon placed 22nd with a throw of 34-6 ¼" and Travis was one of seven athletes to no height.
Travis' season-best would have placed her in the top-10 overall in the event won by Jeffersonville's Austina Smith, who cleared 5'4.
Indiana State University track recruit, Felicia Johnson threw 50-2 ½" to take first place in the shotput.
Shakamak's Austin Witt won the boys' 1A-3A championship in the 3,200 meters with a time of 9:21.12. North Central (Farmersburg) sprinter Shelby Higginbottom was third in the 55 meters in 7.47 and Sullivan's Gene Bradford was fourth in the 55 hurdles in 8.00.
Northview's regular outdoor season begins on April 3 when the Knights host Owen Valley and South Putnam at 5 p.m.
