As the wreckage of a semi-trailer accident is cleared from the eastbound lane in an area near the 25-mile marker on Interstate-70, officials urge motorists to be patient and prepared to slow down while traveling the highway.

The Clay County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating the accident.

Details are sketchy about the accident that occurred around 7 a.m. Friday morning and has eastbound traffic backed up for more than three miles.

The unidentified driver was taken to St. Vincent Clay Hospital for undisclosed injuries.

HAZMAT personnel are in the area cleaning a large fuel spill from the tractor while other crews and emergency workers are attempting to remove the load from the trailer and clear the wreckage from the passing lane.
