Janelle R. Huber was selected solo piccolo during the Indiana Bandmaster's Association All-State Band, which took place on the campus of Indiana University March 7-9.

This was the Greencastle High School senior's third honor band of the year and each time, she was selected principal flute/piccolo, including the Indiana Music Educators All-State Honor Band and the Indiana State University All-Star High School Band.

In June, Huber will again perform with top music students from around the nation at Loyola University in New Orleans as a member of the John Philip Sousa National High School Band under the direction of Col. John R. Bourgeois, retired leader of the United States Marine Band.

During district and state solo ensemble contests this season, she earned all Gold Ratings in piccolo, flute, woodwind trio and voice in Group I.

In December, Huber was selected Greencastle High School's DAR Good Citizen and is in the top 10 percent of her graduating class.

She has been accepted to the Indiana State University Department of Music, where she will major in music education.

At ISU, Huber has received the Sycamore Scholar Award, the Laptop Award and the Summer Honors Scholarship.

The daughter of Melanie and Matt Huber, Janelle performs locally with the Brazil Concert Band, Jackson Township Community Band and the Community Theater of Clay County.
