Accident sends one to hospital

Tuesday, April 1, 2008

A Brazil man was taken to the hospital for minor injuries after a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Billville Road and State Road 59 Tuesday morning.

Around 9:45 a.m., Joetta Brown, 58, Brazil, failed to see David Lark, 67, Brazil, traveling southbound on SR 59 when she crossed the highway on Billville Road.

Lark was apparently unable to avoid hitting Brown's westbound Ford Taurus with his Jeep Wrangler and both vehicles sustained heavy damage.

Sustaining a large cut on his head during the accident, Lark was taken by TransCare for treatment at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

Brown was not injured.

According to Indiana State Police Trooper Chris Carter, failure to yield was the cause of the accident.

The Clay County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
