Clay City track teams drop season opener at Linton

LINTON --?Clay City's boys' distance runners combined for a 1-2-3 sweep of the 3,200 meters and Andrea Ladd won both the 100 and 200 meters for the girls' team, but Linton proved too deep for the Eels in a dual track meet on Monday.

The Miners' boys won 82-49 while the girls posted an 84-47 victory at home.

Jesse Vansickle, Parker Modesitt and Conner Modesitt swept the 3,200 meters for the Eels and all three were part of the victorious 3,200 relay team with Cole Beckley.

Vansickle and Parker Modesitt took the top two spots in the 1,600 meters for Clay City as well.

Orry Heffner was the winner of the 110 hurdles and Beckley took the 800 meter win as well.

For the girls, Ladd took both sprinting events for the Eels and Hanna Moore came through to win the 1,600 and teamed with Ladd, Rachael Narlock and Britany Richard to win the 400 relay event.

Ladd, Moore, Samantha Stoops and Ashley Seymour were the winning 1,600 relay team.

The Eels will travel to West Vigo on Thursday night for a 5 p.m. meet.
