MT. VERNON -- The Northview baseball team traveled to Mt. Vernon for a doubleheader on Saturday and returned with a split.
The Knights opened the day by downing Clinton, Mich., behind a one-hitter from freshman Craig Bell.
Bell struckout four batters and gave up just one walk in his first varsity start as Northview won 11-0 in six innings.
In the second contest, the Knights grabbed an early 6-0 lead after just two innings of play, but gave up seven runs in the bottom half of the third to drop an 8-6 decision to the host squad.
Against Clinton, Northview got a pair of triples from senior Nick Lancaster, who had two RBI and both Dylan Kruse and Ryne Barr each had a double and two runs driven in for the Knights.
In game two, Keaton Robertson had a double and a homerun with two RBI and Kyle Pestoff had two singles with an RBI. Barr and Matt Nodley had a double each.
Northview (1-2 overall) will host Bloomington North this evening at 5 p.m.
