Born Feb. 23, 1932, in Center Point, he was the son of Herman and Katherine (Shafer) Sinders.
He graduated from Brazil High School in 1950 and was drafted into the Army in 1956 with an Honorable Discharge in October 1962.
On Aug. 15, 1959, he married his wife of 48 years, Phyllis D. Gaston.
He worked on the family farm until 1983 and then drove a semi truck for Stuart Moore Oil Company until his retirement. He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ. He was also a garden enthusiast and enjoyed reading and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Helen Latham, a niece Carolyn Burns and a nephew Ronnie Latham.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis, three daughters and two sons, Kevin and wife Janet Gilbert, Victoria Montgomery, Greg and wife Darlene Phillips, Curt and wife Jana Sinders, and Perry and wife Tammy Sinders, grandchildren, Shannon and husband Brent Denbo, Charles and wife Lori Fry, Sean and wife Autumn Drake, Amanda and Briana Gilbert, Rachel Montgomery, Lacy and Ryley Phillips, Tyler and Megan Sinders and Jonathan and Elizabeth Sinders, great-grandchildren, Quinn and Drew Denbo, Bailey, Paige and Abby Fry, one sister and brother-in-law, James and Naomi Nicely, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, April 18, 2008, at Lawson-Miller Chapel. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 17, 2008, from 4-8 p.m., and again one hour prior to services on Friday.
