A sure sign of spring are yard sales; the fruits of spring cleaning labors and treasures waiting to be found.
The Northview High School Key Club would like to help Clay County residents with selling their wares at an indoor yard sale.
The sale is on April 19, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the 4-H Fairground Exhibit Hall.
All proceeds from the yard sale will go to "Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back" the 2008 American Cancer Society's Clay County Relay for Life event.
According to Key Club sponsor Dianna Knox, tables will be available for rent for $15 each to people wanting to participate. Also, the students will pick up donations of items to sell and bring them to the Fairgrounds.
Refreshments will be available Saturday morning, and anything that is not sold at the yard sale will be donated to The Lighthouse Mission.
Because the sale is the morning after Northview's prom, many underclassmen have gotten involved with organizing the event.
Knox said she has 50 students in Key Club, and 12 of them are participating in Relay for Life.
"By giving to the community and giving to others, they can enrich their life. Relay is a great thing to give to because we come from a community with a high rate of cancer," Knox said.
Anyone wishing to rent a table in the yard sale or donate items to be sold can contact Knox at 448-2661 ext. 1462 and leave a message. Members of Key Club will return calls promptly.
The Clay County Relay for Life event is scheduled for May 3-4 at the Clay County YMCA.
