On Wednesday, a Rotary Exchange Team from the southern state of Paraná, Brazil, visited the gift their country gave to Clay County a half-century ago.
The team, from District 4630, is in the early stages of a one-month-tour of the southern and central Indiana towns that make up Rotary District 6580.
They were guests Wednesday at the Brazil Rotary regular meeting and will be attending the district conference later in the month.
Brazilian delegates include Eloi Bonkoski, an FM radio station owner, Dione Chung, a dentist, Lúcio da Silva, a financial assistant, Maria Lúcia Estevăo, an ophthalmologist, and Nathan Ferreira, who works in the commercial development department of an agricultural cooperative.
Last year, an exchange group from Indiana visited Japan, and later this year another group will travel to Brazil to visit Paraná.
The program is intended to give professionals the chance to study another country's institutions, economy and culture, according to the District 6580 website.
Also, the visits give participants an opportunity to observe their own professions and discuss ideas with community leaders.
