Clay City track teams split at Sullivan

SULLIVAN -- Clay City's track teams split their track meets on the road at Sullivan.

The Clay City boys got a pair of distance victories from Jessie Vansickle and won all three relays on the way to an 80-61 win over host Sullivan with Bloomfield in third with 20 points.

The Clay City girls got sprint wins from Andrea Ladd in the 100 and 200 meters and the Eels were second in each of the relays in finishing second to Sullivan, 95 to 56 with Bloomfield in third with 12 points.

Vansickle edged out teammate Parker Modesitt in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:14 to 5:27 and Vansickle ran an 11:49 to take the 3,200.

Kyle Seymour, Ethan Shaw, Garry Payne and Parker Modesitt teamed to run a 1:47.2 in the 400 relay. Cole Beckley, Seymour, Shaw and Ryan Sutton were the winning 1,600 relay squad in 3:51 and Jessie Vansickle, Beckley, Connor Modesitt and Parker Modesitt won the 3,200 relay in 9:23. Vansickle also won the 800 ahead of Beckley.

Payne won the 200 meters in 24.8 and Jacob Payne was the runner-up in the 100 meters ahead of Sutton.

In the hurdles, Orry Heffner was third in the 110 hurdles and Shaw was second in the 300 hurdles ahead of Jared Tiefel.

In the throwing events, Jacob Payne was second in the shotput with a throw of 39-7 and Devon Hall was the second place thrower in the discus with Jarred Lucas in third. Sutton took third in the high jump ahead of Heffner.

In the girls' meet, Ladd ran a 27.2 to win the 200 and a 12.83 to take the top spot in the 100 meters.

In the hurdles, Monique Richard placed second ahead of Kaylee Whitaker in the 100 meter event and Richard was the runner-up in the 300 ahead of Whitaker.

Rachael Narlock won the high jump by clearing 4-10 ahead of Lynsey Higgens. Narlock was also runner-up in the long jump with Megan Vansickle in third.

In throwing events, Breezy Wiley placed third in the shot with a throw of 26-9 and in the discus, Lydia Farmer was fourth.

Ashley Seymour was a third place finisher in the 400 meters in 1:10 and in distance events, Whitney Ames was second in the 3,200 and Megan Vansickle placed fourth in the 1,600.

The Eels compete at Northview in a three-way meet with White River Valley on Tuesday.
