Knights' 'B' and 'C' teams victorious

The Northview freshmen baseball team drilled visiting South Vermillion on Tuesday night, 11-1.

The Knights needed only five innings to get the win in a game halted by the 10-run rule.

Carson Kleiber allowed just two hits in going the distance for the win on the mound. The freshman lefthander gave up only one run and two walks while striking out seven Wildcats.

At the plate, freshman Seth Lunsford had a productive night with a pair of doubles and four RBI for the Knights. Tyler Trout added a three-base hit and Devin Harvey added a single and an RBI.

The Knights (6-0) travel to Terre Haute South on Thursday evening for a 5 p.m. start.



Northview's JV?baseball team improved to 6-0 this season after scoring an 8-3 win against Mooresville.

Caleb Mershon got the pitching victory, going the distance with 12 strikeouts, allowing six hits and two walks.

"Caleb was outstanding on the mound, he mixed his pitches extremely well and kept them off balance," said coach Scott McDonald.

Andrew Butts had a bit night at the plate with two hits, two runs and three stolen bases. Broc Potter and Scotty Wheeler added two hits apiece with two runs driven in by Wheeler.

Zac Niehaus had a double and two runs scored with Jordan Allen, Craig Bell, Joey Thomas and Logan Kile all adding a hit.

"We played OK, our defense was not very good and we allowed them to hang around,"?said McDonald.

"We have to improve in that area to get ready for the next level. We ran the bases extremely well with six stolen bases, as well as taking the extra base when they made mistakes."

The Knights' next game is at home on Thursday against Terre Haute South at 5 p.m.
