Ival Lloyd Lane, 82, Bainbridge, passed away at Hendricks Regional Health Tuesday, April 22, 2008.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1925, in Decker, Ind., to Frank and Jessie Decker Lane.

Ival served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII along with his brothers, Hershel, Ellis and Herb. He was first Sergeant in the Combat Infantry, serving under Patton, 65th Halibert. He received the Combat Infantry Badge in 1945 followed by the Bronze Star Medal.

Ival had an extensive college history. He studied at ISU, Oakland City College, Michigan State, Ball State, and Vincennes University, earning a degree in Divinity. Throughout his career, he served many United Methodist Congregations. In 1989, he took a sabbatical and was appointed by Circuit Court Judge Ralph Johnston as Superintendent of the Glenn Home for Children in Terre Haute. In 1989, his passion turned to Real Estate, and was the owner and operator of Lane Realty in Greencastle.

Ival was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eva Jeanett, daughter Lora Lee, a grandson, Adam, and two brothers, Ellis Lane and Herb Lane.

Surviving are three daughters, Janita Lane Alvey and husband, Dan, Waterford, Wis., Connie Lane, Bainbridge, and Shelia St. Pierre, Bainbridge, a son, Phillip Lane and wife, Kathy, Manitowoc, Wis., a foster daughter, Mary Ann Finney, Bainbridge, three sisters, Phoebe Croslow, Beulah Walker and Nelda Frederick, one brother, Hershel Lane, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his best buddy, Dee-O-Gee.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008, at 2 p.m., at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, with Rev. William R. Clayton officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Bainbridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday April 24, 2008, from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
