Clay City softball blanks Linton

CLAY CITY --?The Clay City Eels improved to 8-2 overall in the softball season after posting a 4-0 win over Linton on Tuesday that counted in both the TRC and SWIAC Conference races.

Shelby Targett struckout 14 batters and didn't walk anyone while allowing just a first inning single to the Miners.

Kayla Baumgartner reached first base in the opening inning on an infield single and came home on a double from Angie Camp. Meranda Jackson drove home the Eels' second run with a single.

Emily Reed drove home two more runs with a two hit game and Targett added a double for the Eels. Baumgartner had two hits for Clay City.

The Eels are now 8-2 overall and 2-1 in the TRC before traveling to Owen Valley today.
