Clay City track teams score wins in final home meet

CLAY CITY -- In a three-way track meet at Clay City, the Eels earned wins over North Central and Riverton Parke.

The boys' got four wins from Ryan Sutton (100, 400, long jump and 1,600 relay) and Ethan Shaw won the 300 hurdles, was second in the 110 hurdles and was part of the winning 400 relay team.

Orry Heffner won the 110 hurdles, was second in the 300 hurdles and high jump along with placing third in the shotput.

The Eels won the boys' meet with 90 points to North Central's 50 and Riverton Parke's 16.

The Eels won all three relay events with Jessie Vansickle, Conner Modesitt, Parker Modesitt and Cole Beckley winning the 3,200 relay. In the 400 relay, Kyle Seymour, Jared Tiefel, Garry Payne and Shaw teamed for the win. Beckley joined Kevin Cook, Jessie Vansickle and Tiefel for the 1,600 relay win.

Seymour also won the 200 meters, Devin Hall placed second in the discus with Jacob Payne second in the shotput. Jessie Vansickle was the runner-up in the 1,600 ahead of Parker Modesitt.

In the girls' meet, the Eels won with 94 points to beat the T-Birds' 52 and the Panthers' nine.

Lydia Farmer was a double-winner in the throwing events with Andrea Ladd taking the 200 meter win and second in the 100 meters. She also teamed with Rachael Narlock, Brittany Richard and Hannah Moore to win the 400 relay. The 1,600 relay team was also a winner with Ladd, Narlock, Ashley Seymour and Moore winning.

Samantha Stoops, Megan Vansickle, Lindsay Vencel and LaKyla Cook comprised the winning 3,200 relay squad.

Narlock also won the high jump and was second in the long jump.

Also winning for the Eels was Keely Whitaker in the 100 hurdles and Seymour in the 400 meters.

The Eels travel to Cloverdale for their next meet on Tuesday.
