Doris E. (Byers) Hoffman, 83, Indianapolis, passed away Friday, April 25, 2008.
She was born April 19, 1925, in Perth, Ind., to Lawrence and Eva Byers.
Doris graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1943, and married Hubert A. Hoffman in 1948. She retired from her position as a data specialist at J.C. Penney in 1986. She was a volunteer for Community Hospital's "Loving and Sharing" program and was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church, as well as several women's auxiliary clubs. Doris was an avid reader, an Indiana Pacers fan, and enjoyed sewing and needlepoint.
Doris is survived by daughters, Sharon Henselmeier (Michael), Karen Hoffman, sons, Ricky Hoffman and Robert Hoffman. She has five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Lancaster, and brother Raymond Byers (Norma). She is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert, and oldest son, Garry.
Services will be Monday, April 28, 2008, at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-noon, with funeral services at noon.
