CLAY CITY -- The third Mayberry Classic 5K run/walk and one-mile fun walk will take place Saturday, June 28.
The eight-week training program is scheduled to begin today.
The training involves a meeting once a week for eight weeks to learn about the process of preparing for the event.
Each week, different topics will be presented related to race preparation.
After the short presentation, those attending will run or walk. Topics will include:
* Introduction to the program,
* Warm ups and cool downs,
*Appropriate clothing and footwear,
* Injury prevention, and
* Weight training benefits.
The first training session will begin at 6 p.m., at the Clay City Clinic, 315 Lankford St., Clay City. There will be groups for runners and walkers.
The runners will divide into three groups, beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Trainers will be available to help prepare for the race.
