Northview tennis team blanks Vikings

TERRE HAUTE -- Northview's tennis team posted an impressive sweep on the road against Western Indiana Conference foe West Vigo on Thursday night.

The varsity didn't lose a set in posting a 5-0 win over the Vikings.

The No. 2 doubles team of Hannah Pond and Olivia Kumpf blasted past Chelsy Brown and Emily Wheatfill, 6-0, 6-0 to set the tone of the evening and the No. 1 team of Bonnie Froderman and Andrea James scored a 6-0, 6-2 win.

In singles play, both Ali Rentschler and Allie Melega won 6-1, 6-0 matches at No. 3 and No. 2 singles and Jazmine Kellum was a 6-0, 6-2 winner in the No. 1 position.

In junior varsity play, Allison Stearley won an 8-0 match at No. 1 singles, 8-0 and the No. 2 doubles team of Chloe Burdette and Conner Reinoehl won 8-0.

Both Lauren Reberger and Mallory Heffner were singles winners and the No. 1 doubles team of Miranda Brossman and Kaci Khert won an 8-4 decision.

The Knights (8-3) travel to Nashville to face Brown County today at 2 p.m.
