Poll: No more debating please

Sunday, May 4, 2008

Clay County voters have had enough.

The remaining Democratic presidential candidates, Sens. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Hillary Clinton (D-NY) have engaged in several debates throughout the campaign season.

Recently, Clinton suggested the two should have another debate prior to Tuesday's primaries in Indiana and North Carolina.

The Brazil Times recently asked its online readers, "Should the 2008 Democratic presidential candidates engage in another debate?"

Readers were given two options, including:

* Yes they should, or

* No. Enough is enough.

Of the 244 readers that responded to the poll, 163 (66.8 percent) said enough is enough and did not want to see another debate.

A total of 81 readers (33.2 percent) said the candidates should have debated again.

Eleven readers also commented regarding the poll question.

One reader said, "If you don't know who they are by now, then you won't ever know," while another reader said, "No more lies. All have heard enough."

Another reader said, "All they are doing is wasting time and money. Everyone has access to Internet and can look at their records and thoughts on the issues. What each person has to do now is compare where each stands and the records and make their choice. Mine is Obama, hands down."

Another reader said, "We know who they are and know where they said they stand on the issues. There is no need to waste any time because all they will do is repeat what they have been saying the past six months."

The current Times' online poll question is, "With the recent rise in gasoline prices, are you having to watch your wallet a little more?"

Readers are given two options to choose from, including yes or no.

As always, readers also have the opportunity to post comments regarding the poll question.
