Monday, May 5, 2008

St. Vincent Clay Hospital recently nominated registered nurse Paulette Gaskill for the 2008 St. Vincent Health Professional Nursing Recognition Award. The PNRA Award is designed to honor those nurses who have achieved a high standard of practice. The award encompasses a variety of professional roles, including leadership within the discipline of nursing, holistic approach to nursing, Core Values and contributions to the community, nursing education and/or research.

The goals of the Professional Nursing Award are:

* To award excellence in professional nursing practice, and

* To demonstrate the high value St. Vincent Clay Hospital places on attributes of practice performance, professional development, and leadership.

Paulette began working at the hospital in 1977 and her current position is the Case Manager at St. Vincent Clay Hospital. Gaskill often goes above and beyond in finding the resources patients need to make the transition from the hospital while helping the patient remain as independent as possible.

In addition, Gaskill practices the Core Value of Service of the poor in a manner that serves as a role models for others. Her many years of experience in the nursing field as well as her relationships with community agencies make her a reliable and respected resource to her co-workers and patients alike.

"Paulette has set a standard for all of our associates to exemplify everyday at St. Vincent Clay Hospital," Wayne Knight, CFO at SVCH, said.

Awards will be presented on May 8 at the Celebration of Nursing banquet where the nominees' contribution to professional nursing practice will be recognized and celebrated.
