Woneta H. Stantz, 93, Coal City, passed away May 10, 2008, at her residence.

She was born July 4, 1914, in Owen County, the daughter of Ellen (Neiswinger) Young and Aaron Young.

On Jan. 27, 1931, she married Paul W. Stantz, who preceded her in death June 23, 1991.

She was a member of the Church of Christ of Coal City, American Legion Auxiliary of Coal City No. 141, the Busy Bee's, and the Coal City Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and granny to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law, Donald E. "Gene" Jones, and a daughter-in-law, Mary K. Stantz.

Survivors include her daughter, Freida Jones, Coal City, son Wayne Stantz, Coal City, grandchildren Kala Unverzagt, Kathy Barker and Gina Seidensticker, eight great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Moyer, two brothers, Wilbur Young and William Young many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m., at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fiscus Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m., and prior to services on Tuesday.
