She was born in Silver City, Iowa, to Hugh and Verna Hauck Nees, Jan. 11, 1918.
Leo Girton, at G and F Coal, employed Dorothy for 27 years as a bookkeeper. She also worked for Wadsworth Furnace as a bookkeeper until retiring in 1986.
She was a long time member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working in the church, cooking, making pies and noodles for others. She did many sewing and crochet projects through the years. She volunteered many years at the Clay County Health Center. She was also an avid walker and loved sharing with others.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Maxwell Jerry in January 2002, her parents and one brother Marion Nees in Hollywood, Fla.
She is survived by two sisters and five brothers, Norma McDonald, Mabank, Texas, Patricia Reberger and husband James, Brazil, Gailard and wife Florence of Elkhart, Ind., Forrest and wife Ruth, Louisville, Ill., Wayne and wife Roberta, Kenneth and wife Diana, Poland, Robert and wife Gloria of Bainbridge, Ind., she is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as several great nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Services for Dorothy are at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at French Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Voll officiating. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 p.m., and again Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
