She was born June 30, 1921, near Carbon, as the daughter of James A. and Minnie Miller Wells. She graduated from Van Buren High School with the Class of 1939. As a young girl she worked in her father's grocery store in Carbon. She married Robert L. Herbert, April 30, 1945, in Cardonia, Ind., at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Price. She attended Carbon United Methodist Church and was a member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending many hours putting puzzles together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, three brothers, Harry, Charles and Arthur Wells and five sisters, Grace Morgan, Margaret Turner, Florence Craig, Ethel Pell and Ruth Delacca.
She is survived by three sons, John Herbert and wife Patricia, Brazil, Robert W. Herbert, Carbon and Randy Herbert and wife Debbie, Carbon, granddaughters, Andrea Harrison, Michelle Herbert, Jill Bennett and husband Jake and Melissa Cayton and husband Tyrone, grandsons, Jeffrey Herbert and wife Kelly, Braden Herbert, Jonathan Herbert and Logan Herbert, and great-grandchildren, Chloe Herbert, Jada Cayton, Aidan Harrison, Alexander Harrison, Dylan Herbert, Stuart Bennett and Jonah Cayton.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday, May 15, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home with David Wise officiating.
