The end of the month of May not only means the Indianapolis 500, but baseball sectionals as well.

Clay City and Northview have the luxury of drawing the bye bracket this season, which is always a bonus when considering what could potentially be a very long road to a championship.

Northview will host the Class 4A sectional this year, which begins on Monday, May 26 with a 12 p.m. game between Mooresville and Plainfield while Terre Haute North and Martinsville play game two of the afternoon.

The second round takes place on Wednesday with the winner's of the first round games squaring off at 6 p.m. followed by the host Knights taking on Terre Haute South at approximately 8 p.m.

The Knights own a Big Four victory over the Braves, a 7-6 thriller less than a month ago. Northview was edged out 10-9 by Terre Haute North in an earlier game in the tourney.

The Class A Shakamak Sectional gets underway on Monday as well with a 1 p.m. contest between the defending champion Lakers and White River Valley.

On Thursday, the Union Bulldogs take on North Central followed by Clay City's match-up with the winner of game one.

The Eels earlier downed the Lakers for the first time in eight years when they scored a 5-4 victory on the arm of Ryne Hayes, who also hit a home run in the game along with Will Kennedy.

Admission to each sectional is $5 per session or $8 for all sessions.
