He was born Sept. 18, 1932, in Onward, Ind., to Lowell and Harriett (Gilliand) Reed.
He was former owner of Reed Ford Sales in Clay City for eight years then sales manager for Clay City Ford until retirement. He was a member of the Freedom United Methodist Church, and attended Antioch Christian Church, Clay City, F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge No. 562 and Past Master, Scottish Rite and Sorah Shrine, Terre Haute, Elks Lodge, Brazil.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cozeana (Sears), Clay City, children Lewis Reed Jr. and wife Veronica, Newburgh, and Deborah Willen and husband Marvin, Coal City, five grandchildren, Charles "Chuck" Willen, Carlos Reed, Rebekah Reed, Jessica Hux and Hannah Reed, two great-grandchildren, Mariah Hux and Christian Willen, brothers Don and Ernest Reed, and sister Ruth Brossman.
He was preceded by his parents and grandson Matthew R. Willen.
Services will take place at Welch and Cornett Funeral Home, Worthington, at 2 p.m., Wednesday, with Bret Eaton officiating. Burial will be at Chambersville Cemetery, Ellettsville.
Visitation is after 11 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at the funeral home.
